Meetings

We meet Mondays from 10:30 - 2:00 (with an optional bonus hour from 2:00 - 3:00) beginning September 9, 2024 at St Joseph the Worker church in Maple Grove, Minnesota.

10:30 - 12:00  Lincoln Douglas Debate

12:00 - 12:30  Lunch (bring your own)

12:30 - 2:00   Speech

2:00 - 3:00    Optional bonus hour for feedback on speeches

Students can choose debate, speech or both. Everyone should plan to stay for lunch; the parents will have an important informational meeting while the students visit.

New Metro Edge students will be focusing on informative speeches for the 2024-2025 competition season. Students will learn how to choose a topic, write a speech and then present it with confidence. They will receive feedback from their coach, parents and other students during meetings and will participate in a practice tournament before competition season begins. Experienced students will be focusing on Apologetics this year. Students have the option of staying for a bonus hour to get feedback on other speeches.

Younger siblings can join, too!  There is an area for the youngest children to play and older children can learn to write a junior version of an informative speech.

Parent involvement is essential to our club. Parents are expected to stay for meetings to offer feedback and learn with their students.
